Preparing for your lemon law case.
Preparing
for your lemon law case is easy. I am going to walk you
through it.
Your
lemon law case is based upon documentation.
The first group below is required
documentation, the second group is potentially
applicable, depending upon the circumstances of your
case.
The
first group of documents consists of:
-
Purchase
or Lease Agreement. This is the document you
signed to acquire your car.
-
Current
vehicle registration (or recent registration)
-
If
financed or leased, evidence of who holds the title
(loan/lease)
-
Repair
Order Invoices. These are the documents the car
dealership gives you when you go back to pick up your
car after the warranty repair visit is completed.
-
Repair
Orders. These are only needed if you are missing
the repair order
invoice for any visit(s) to the dealership.
The
second group of documents consists of thing(s) that may,
or may not apply to you. If they do, please include these
in your document preparation:
-
Photos
or videos (on CD or DVD) of current or past issues
(demonstrating the defect/problem)
-
Written
communications/correspondence with the auto
manufacturer. (asking for buyback or help)
-
Documents
from application for – or completion of Arbitration.
-
“Case
number” if you made phone or written contact
with the automobile manufacturer.
-
Letter
of denial. (If they denied your demand for a
buyback).
-
If
you purchased your vehicle as a “CERTIFIED
PRE-OWNED”, that comes with a used vehicle CPO
warranty, include evidence of that.
If, by chance, you are missing any repair visit that you don’t have any documentation for, you can visit your dealership Service Advisor and request a “warranty repair history summary” printout. Be sure not to mention lemon law to the dealer, as this will almost certainly see your request not fulfilled.
Please put all of these documents together in a file. These are the documents your will need for me to evaluate your lemon law case.
When you have these all together, your preparation is now complete!
